The Direct Debit
Guarantee DIRECT
Debit This guarantee is offered by all banks and Building Societies that
take part in the Direct Debit Scheme. The efficiency and security of the Scheme is monitored and protected
by your own Bank or Building Society. If the amounts to be paid or the payment dates change, the English
Bridge Union will notify you 10 working days in advance of your account being
debited or as otherwise agreed. If an error is made by the English Bridge Union or your Bank or
Building Society, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your
branch of the amount paid. You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank or
Building Society. Please also send a copy of your letter to us. |
How to Deal Yourself In
Complete the attached Joining Form and send it to the EBU at Aylesbury, or hand it to a local club or county official.
The easiest and most efficient way to pay is by Direct Debit.
Just fill in the mandate next to the Joining Form and we will do the rest.
Or you can pay by cheque, or your local official may accept cash. Cheques should be payable to the English Bridge union unless otherwise directed by the local official.
Alternatively, you may choose to pay your first subscription by credit card and join by simply telephoning the Membership Helpline.
The start of the membership year is 1st April, but you can join at any time. A new member joining for the first time from November onwards need only pay half the annual subscription for that membership year.
The cost of the annual subscription varies from county to county. Find out how much your own subscription (MCBA) is by asking a local official:
Bernard Kaye (3 Haslam Court, 68 Singleton Road, Manchester, M7 4LG
(Tel: 0161 740 1706)).
If you need any assistance, please ring the Membership Helpline.

The EBU is made up of 39 County Associations.
When you join, part of you subscription goes to your county of affiliation and part goes to the national administrative headquarters in Aylesbury.

represents you views at national level and provides a range of local services
and competitions for members.
Your national representatives lobby parliament for changes in the law
to enable duplicate bridge to be officially recognised as a sport with the
ensuing benefits.
