Player of the Year Rules
General
- Manchester full members
only
- All competitions with more
than 20 pairs/teams to have a top score of ten points reducing to 1 point
for tenth place.
- Competitions with fewer
than 20 pairs/teams to have a reduced scale of scores.
- Lower divisions/plate competitions
to have a reduced scale of scores in comparison to the main competition.
- Prizes for Expert and Intermediate
categories.
- Expert is National Master
and above.
- Novice events will not be
included this year (but may be added next year).
- Season to coincide with
the end of the league season i.e. roughly June to May.
- Point awards to be reviewed
next year in light of experience.
- Points for the league will
be awarded to players who play 50%+ of matches.

- Risley 1 day pairs 10 for
first down to 1 for tenth
- Risley 1 day teams 10 for
first down to 1 for tenth
- Ben Franks 10 for first
down to 1 for tenth
- Congress pairs 10 for first
down to 1 for tenth
- Congress Teams A final 10
for first , 8 for second down to 2 for fifth
- Congress Teams B final 8
for first, 6 for second down to 2 for fourth
- Congress Teams C final 6
for first, 4 for second, 2 for third
- Gazette 6 for first, 4 for
second, 2 for third
- Green Point Pairs 10 for
first down to 1 for tenth
- Higson Cup final 8 for first,
6 for second down to 2 for fourth
- Higson Plate final 6 for
first, 4 for second, 2 for third
- League division 1 10 for
first , 8 for second down to 2 for fifth
- League division 2 8 for
first, 6 for second down to 2 for fourth
- League division 3 6 for
first, 4 for second, 2 for third
- County Cup 6 for winners,
4 for losing finalists, 2 for losing semi-finalists
Equal places will each get same number of higher points e.g. 2nd= both get
9 points in Ben Franks.
Ties to be broken by higher number of first places (for trophy purposes).
The point
scoring system has been chosen to make each competition have roughly equal
standing and to make the keeping of the scores not too onerous.
